Time is always agianst you it would seem. When this blog was set up, many moon's ago now it seems, there was a grand, ambitious plan to detail every little thing which happened in the preparation of the trip. It was a lovely thought, but the pounding crush of reality means that in fact, after a long day at work, the last thing I could be bothered to do was write a little update on here about the latest development. And also, to be honest, there hasn't been as many preparations as we thought.
Yes, theres the fun bit, looking on the Internet, researching destinations and there's a fair bit of leg work- sorting out flights, checking out what jabs we need, sorting out visa restrctions etc - but other than that, not a huge amount has been done really. Perhaps this lack of preparation will come back and bite us on the proverbial but as long as we keep our minds and our eyes open, then most of what we need to sort can be done on the way.
One of the most difficult things to work out is how to put your life on hold. Its things like making sure the finances are in order which take up the time, or working out how and where we will store our stuff while we are away. After all, we have a whole house-worth of things - furniture, books, xmas trees- our whole life really. This has to be put on hold for a year- now thats a challenge!
Anyway, we haven't even detailed the itinery here yet so perhaps it might be time to share that with you. I'll do that soon. I promise.
